Sunday walk with my new Fujifilm X-E1

During last years summer of sailing I started to get passionate about photography and I used a Leica X1. I loved the little powerhouse with the fixed lens and the great image quality, for me it was also the perfect camera to start with as the menu is simple and the manual mode with old school dials are a perfect teacher. I always dreamed about a rangefinder and unfortunately the Leica X1 does not have one and the Leica M9/ME is just a "little" bit to expensive.

This year after spending a winter of research and checking different cameras i traded in my beloved Leica X1 and bought a Fujifilm X-E1 and I could not be happier. The camera is the perfect upgrade for me, the electronic viewfinder is wonderful and the 18-55mm lens gives me more options especially for the landscape photos I take during this sailing adventure in the Mediterranean Sea. I sometimes still forget that I have a zoom lens now, not used yet to this new option ;-).

The Fujifilm X-E1 has the right size, not to big but it feels really good in my hand, the Leica sometimes felt a bit to tiny, the weight is great too, I still need to get used to the weight of the lens itself. I also really enjoy the manual focus on the lens, this is just how it should be.

The colors of the Fujifilm X-E1 are wonderful and quiet different then the Leica ones, somehow these photos remind me of the analog film, same look and "feel" wich I love and the depth of field is great, too. At the moment I also use VSCO film presets on aperture for my editing, I like the editing process it also turns into an experiment from time to time with a uncertain outcome. I still have a lot to learn.

So much to talk about the equipment, these are some photos taken around the ACI Marina Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik town, where we are docked at the moment.

Yes, i added some film grain to the shots.
