Our favorite Island: Hvar

We have been pretty busy the last weeks but as promised we are back and ready to write about the stunning island of Hvar and its main town Hvar itself. We only planned to stay for a couple of days but as the place is so nice and due to not favorable weather we stayed there for two weeks, by the way our longest stop in one harbour since we started near Venice almost 3 months ago. Hvar offers the perfect mix, a little town with beautiful well kept historical buildings, bars and coffee shops for a good drink while relaxing in the sun and dozens of restaurants with an interesting international crowd. As we live on the boat and don't have a car we also appreciated all the scenic walks along the coastline with stunning views and lots of little bays where it was still a pleasure to have a swim as the water even at this time of the year was warm enough. We fell in love with the place so that even the really annoying southerly swell in the open harbour wich was rolling around our EraOra 24/7 was "tolerated" - not to mention one night with the most violent thunderstorm ever. To escape our rolling home we cooked less and discovered the little restaurant "Dalmatino" and its signature dish the "Filet with Truffles". Life can't get any better.
